If you’re reading this, maybe you, too, have noticed that the world is starved for deep and moving conversation, where civil exchange and thorough debate seem depressingly rare?
Welcome to Dialogos, a newsletter about how to foster more meaningful conversations. It will feature a combination of threads and posts designed to stimulate discussion. I’ll be looking to understand and unravel some of the challenges that have led us to this context, where we struggle to have open and powerful conversations. I’ll also lay out some ideas and ways to insert more meaningful debate into our daily lives, whether that’s at the dining table with friends and family, in society at large with strangers, or at work.
My intention is to use the material from this Substack as a basis for my next book. By subscribing (click the button at the end of this post), you will be able to participate in the journey, receiving my posts, commenting and questioning as we go along. And, for the paying subscribers, I reserve a number of exclusivities and benefits.
About Minter
A little about me (Minter Dial): I like to call myself an elevator. I’ve given myself a North Star that is to elevate the debate and to connect people, dots and ideas by telling powerful stories. I’ve published three business books and wrote and produced the WWII story, The Last Ring Home, which is an award-winning book and documentary film (shown on PBS, History Channel and HistoryHit TV). After a career that included two start-ups, working in a variety of eclectic industries (a zoo, an aquarium, luxury handbags, travel agency for entertainers, tennis coaching…) and spending 16 years as a top executive at L’Oréal, I launched myself as a professional speaker and unorthodox consultant. With specialisms on Leadership, Branding and Strategy, I have given over 500 talks and seminars to audiences in five continents. While most conferences don’t rank their speakers, I am proud to report that I was ranked top 3 speaker at the Adobe EMEA Summit 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Alongside a lifetime of following the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers and Liverpool FC, I am a long-in-the-tooth fan of the Grateful Dead, an aficionado of padel tennis and an amateur guitarist. I also love to write.
You can find more about me, my books and other activities on my eponymous site.
