Thanks Nick. I've been noting (and wincing at) the use of "dialogue" in the midst of the news cycle on the Russia-Ukraine situation. Seems like dialogue is only really possible if both sides are truly willing to listen and able to change at least some of their positions. At the end of the day, it seems more like a negotiation than a dialogue per se.

As the parent of a high school and college debate(r) this is especially fascinating! Watching that form of communication has certainly altered how I look at that exchange! (I did not debate at school!)

Touché. I feel we could integrate many of the concepts of formal debate into our daily lives : no interruption ; listening ; learning the other side's arguments....

In short having a meaningful conversation, dialogue, discussion, debate is to take the risk of opposition, disagreement, conflict, dissidence, war. And it is the chance of learning, elevation, enlightenment, accomplishment. Thank you

May I add that exploring differences, especially polarities or paradoxes, is an opportunity to express our conscious humanity in the creative search for movement, whereas if we enter the discussion as the pole or paradox, tension and frustration is a more likely fate.

I’m very happy to have discovered your site and look forward to be able to spend more time reading. You provide valuable insight to grow in areas where it might not be easy or natural.
